OCD WA is a volunteer-run, lived-experience-informed charity supporting people living with OCD and related disorders, their families, and the clinicians who care for them.
Formed in 2023 and a Global Partner of the International OCD Foundation, we work to improve access to OCD-informed, evidence-based care and reduce stigma across Western Australia.
Our vision is a WA where OCD is recognised early, treatment is timely and effective, and no one feels alone.
whO we help
Living with OCD can be exhausting, isolating and misunderstood, but effective treatment and peer support are available in Western Australia.
OCD WA helps you navigate treatment options,
connect with others who “get it”, and access
practical resources tailored to local services.
Key ways we help:
Facilitated peer support groups that offer understanding, validation and
evidence‑informed strategies.Curated guides on getting assessed, finding ERP‑informed clinicians and preparing for appointments.
Community events that reduce stigma and celebrate lived experience, such as OCD Awareness Week activities.
INDIVIDUALS WITH LIVED EXPERIENCE
When someone you love has OCD, it can be hard
to know what helps and what unintentionally
keeps the cycle going.
OCD WA equips families, partners and carers with practical information, support and pathways to
skilled treatment.
Support for families includes:
Plain‑language education about OCD, reassurance‑seeking and accommodation.
Guidance on finding family‑inclusive
clinicians and asking the right questions in appointments.Opportunities to connect with other families through groups and community events.
FAMILIES & SUPPORTERS
OCD is often under‑recognised and
under‑treated, despite the strong evidence base for Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and related therapies.
OCD WA partners with clinicians and services to lift
OCD literacy, promote best‑practice care and build a skilled treatment network in WA.
For clinicians, OCD WA offers:
Education and training delivered in conjunction with the International OCD Foundation and
expert services.Resources for GPs, psychologists and psychiatrists on assessing OCD and making timely referrals.
Opportunities to collaborate on events, clinical education and advocacy initiatives.
